Chinese painter Peter Ping-Nan Lee was born in a small village in Taiwan. Since a young age, Peter loved his father’s calligraphy writing. His father was also talented at calligraphy and many neighbors visited to receive calligraphy gifts during Chinese New Year. Peter saw first-hand the positive impact calligraphy can have on the community. Using the richness and happiness of his young age memory, Peter began to paint with water and ink. He started painting in Taipei and continued painting when he moved to Los Angeles. Peter has been painting for over forty years. Now Peter enjoys helping to build a new community for painting and continuing to keep traditional Chinese painting alive through his works and contributions.
